WHAT JIHAD IS:

The Arabic word “jihad” is often translated as “holy war,” but in a purely linguistic sense, the word ” jihad” means struggling or striving.
The arabic word for war is: “al-harb”.
In a religious sense, as described by the Quran and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (s), “jihad” has many meanings. It can refer to internal as well as external efforts to be a good Muslims or believer, as well as working to inform people about the faith of Islam.
If military jihad is required to protect the faith against others, it can be performed using anything from legal, diplomatic and economic to political means. If there is no peaceful alternative, Islam also allows the use of force, but there are strict rules of engagement. Innocents – such as women, children, or invalids – must never be harmed, and any peaceful overtures from the enemy must be accepted.
Military action is therefore only one means of jihad, and is very rare. To highlight this point, the Prophet Mohammed told his followers returning from a military campaign: “This day we have returned from the minor jihad to the major jihad,” which he said meant returning from armed battle to the peaceful battle for self-control and betterment.
In case military action appears necessary, not everyone can declare jihad. The religious military campaign has to be declared by a proper authority, advised by scholars, who say the religion and people are under threat and violence is imperative to defend them. The concept of “just war” is very important.
The concept of jihad has been hijacked by many political and religious groups over the ages in a bid to justify various forms of violence. In most cases, Islamic splinter groups invoked jihad to fight against the established Islamic order. Scholars say this misuse of jihad contradicts Islam.
Examples of sanctioned military jihad include the Muslims’ defensive battles against the Crusaders in medieval times, and before that some responses by Muslims against Byzantine and Persian attacks during the period of the early Islamic conquests.

WHAT JIHAD IS NOT:

Jihad is not a violent concept.
Jihad is not a declaration of war against other religions. It is worth noting that the Quran specifically refers to Jews and Christians as “people of the book” who should be protected and respected. All three faiths worship the same God. Allah is just the Arabic word for God, and is used by Christian Arabs as well as Muslims.
Military action in the name of Islam has not been common in the history of Islam. Scholars says most calls for violent jihad are not sanctioned by Islam.
Warfare in the name of God is not unique to Islam. Other faiths throughout the world have waged wars with religious justifications.

The Annual Easter Egg Conspiracy is Here

I see the “Dat Kadbrees as takun da wurd Eestur offa da frunt ov der egggz, itsan owtraje coz ov bluudy imimimimimigruntz!” story has started early this year…. don’t know whether that story or easter eggs will pop up first; the seasonal outrage seems to pop up earlier and earlier every year, normally by people who were outraged about “Christmas is going to be banned” stuff a couple of weeks ago. Rarely seem to find them near a church though. Anyway; same as last year, and the year before, and all the way back, the word “Easter” isn’t on the front, never has been, this is a pic from some Easter Eggs in the 70s, for example. It doesn’t need the word Easter on the front, in the same way as a brick doesn’t need to be labelled with the word “brick”, Easter eggs are quite clearly Easter eggs without the label, and if you can’t fathom it out, I’m sure reading isn’t going to help you. Also, its called branding; it’s obviously an Easter egg, so they can get on with putting more branding on the front. The word Easter will appear on the packaging somewhere, but it’s not hidden to not offend people (especially as the most easily offended people are the ones offended by cretinous things like Easter Eggs not having Easter on them in giant letters), it’s just not that necessary for non-morons. Also, if you are offended due to some mock-religious bullshit; point out to me in the Bible where the chocolate eggs show up.. were they the pudding at the Last Supper? Did a hoppy bunny lay one in a mystical moment during the Passion? Nope. If you are really offended by the watering down of an imported religion, maybe you should get annoyed by the adoption of pagan fertility imagery in it, and the rather crass commercialisation of a sacred festival. Or maybe you should be annoyed by Cadbury’s not paying tax? Or maybe, just maybe, you are a knee jerk imbecile, looking to be offended by absolutely everything and using religion as your excuse to be a xenophobic bigot? The Easter Egg doesn’t need the word “Easter” on the front of them, as they are obviously Easter Eggs, just as you don’t need the word “bigotted twat” labelled on the front of you, basically.
Incidentally, tax-dodging Cadbury’s also offer a whole range of things with the word “Easter” written all over the front of them too.
Now I want chocolate.

Note: The word Easter is on the top of one of those…. clearly Isis travelled back in time and made packaging designers move it…

Should we be worried about…Breitbart?

Fake news, we have all read some online. Most is easy to spot, with wild exaggerations and conspiracies – obvious for being such. But what happens when an online news source is deemed by thousands to be more informative and honest than the Mainstream Media? When editors of said news site have links to the President Elect?

Obviously it is Breitbart we are talking about here; the fascists’ – sorry, that was not very politically correct – Alt Right, Nationalists (as Fascists like to call themselves these days) rag of choice.

Breitbart has aligned itself with the European populist right and American alt-right under the management of former executive chairman Steven K. Bannon (pictured above with Trump). The New York Times describes Breitbart News as an organization with “ideologically driven journalists”, that is a source of controversy “over material that has been called misogynist, xenophobic and racist”. Steven Bannon himself still faces accusations of racism, anti-semitism and having white supremacist leanings. Some are even going so far as to state that Bannon has become the ‘Voice of Racism‘ within Trump’s cabinet.

Another Breitbart editor with links to Donald Trump – Raheem Kassam (far right)

The fact that the soon-to-be POTUS Trump has invited Bannon and the ‘Alt Right’ into the Whitehouse, and indeed actually given them important positions, is cause for concern enough. But even more worrying is that many political commentators believe that Breitbart, which has actively sought support from white supremacists, actually helped  with Donald Trump’s election victory. The media influencing elections is nothing new.

But the danger posed by Breitbart goes further than even the manipulation we have seen from Murdoch’s news empire.

Breitbart has a long history of producing material dedicated to hate speech. Obviously, Breitbart itself denies it is a fake news site, even though the online fact checking site Snopes has page after page debunking Breitbart articles. But, even when proven to be exaggerations or down right lies, most people who read the fabricated stories on social media actually believe them.
Take this shocking article for example:

Which was quickly picked up by other far right sites and pages and shared many thousands of times on social media.

This is pretty frightening stuff, a church in Germany set alight and the police attacked by over 1000 Muslims…except none of it is actually true.

The article was attributed to German news site Ruhr Nachrichten, which hit back on Wednesday, accusing Breitbart of “using our online reports for fake news, hate and propaganda.” As Ruhr Nachrichten pointed out, Breitbart attributed separate unconnected incidents to a larger, collective “mob”.

“There was in fact a total of around 1,000 people gathered to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Leeds Square, including “large and small groups” of young, foreign men as well as families with children, according to Ruhr Nachrichten. The original report by the local news site from that night describes how some individuals did start launching fireworks from within the crowd towards police, who told them to stop but were ignored. Broadcaster WDR reported that officers then issued orders for some people to leave and took some into custody. While Breitbart wrote that the “mob” set the roof of Germany’s oldest church on fire, Ruhr Nachrichten pointed out that this was also not accurate. St. Reinold is not Germany’s oldest church – that would be the Cathedral of Trier – and a small fire had started on some netting on scaffolding around the church, not the roof, due to one firework.” – Read More

Exaggerations and lies; the stock in-trade of demagogues and propagandists throughout history. Even though the true facts behind the article have surfaced, the damage has already been done. The majority of people who read it will not bother to fact check and a great many,  even when shown the truth, will believe it to be Governments trying to cover up the truth: that the fake news is real and the real news is fake.

What can be done about the proliferation of fake news? Germany is proposing to fine social media companies if they do not remove fake news articles. Is censorship the way forward? Although ‘fake news’ is generally viewed as a problematic issue which needs to be dealt with, the more liberty-minded have cautioned vociferously that even light censorship of ideas will cascade into widespread editing of thought. But can fake news be allowed to continue to shape the public conscience? Anyone who spends even a small amount of time on social media will witness comment after comment by people who have obviously bought into the lies and spin of the far right. Whereas in the past people would struggle to find like minded individuals in which to share and validate their views, social media has made it simple for them to get together in groups and on pages. The far right are on the rise throughout the world: Trump in the USA; Orban in Hungary; LePenn in France; the AFD in Germany; Wilders in the Netherlands; Da’esh; Putin, the list goes on and on. Just how much of this rise can be attributed to fake news and its proliferation on social media is a debate for another day. But never forget this.

Katey Hopkins tried to sneak this apology out at 2am, so we posted it.

Perennial annoyance and fascist demagogue Hatey Hopkins has found herself in hot water over a Daily Mail article she wrote. The courts ruled against her and the Daily Heil and ordered them to pay ‘Substantial Damages’. They tried to release the apology at 2am to hide it. Be a really shame if it got shared about more.

Knights Templar International: Christian Knights or Fascist Front?

Like many groups and individuals whose (bizarre?) hobby is monitoring far right pages on social media we spotted a new kid on the block in 2014 – the Knights Templar International. The Facebook page was a strange mix of ads for clothing (from the Patriot Store, more on that later), Islamaphobia, ads to join the order and click bait. From the outset we were suspicious of the page and suspected the involvement of James Dowson, ex Orangeman, BNP and Britain First. The hallmarks of Dowson’s involvement were all over the KTI page. The usual click bait posts, ‘Share if you are against animal cruelty’, ‘Share if you respect our armed forces’ and post after post espousing a pro-life agenda.

And of course the cross posting between KTI and the Britain First Facebook page.
BF kti share

And the infamous email from Britain First leader Paul Golding asking people (in sensitive careers who cannot openly support the party, make of that what you will) to join KTI.

Infamous join KTI Britain First email2

Dowson having claimed before this that he had quit Britain First in disgust at their Mosque invasions (which consisted of Golding and his Blackshirts forcing their way into a Mosque during the quietest period and then harassing elderly Imams).
And yet here he is at the Britain First Conference in 2015 (billed as a ‘guest’ speaker and not the power behind the throne that he really is). Jim was also at a Britain First march in 2015, whizzing around in his merchandise van (which says everything about the man).

Also pictured (right) is one Imre Teglasy (more on him later).

Not anything to do with Britain First though:

.

But actual proof of Dowson involvement remained elusive until we discovered a video from a Russian television report where Dowson admitted to being KTI.

Hi Jim!

The video was made during the International Conservative Forum held in St Petersburg, Russia (for conservative insert ‘Far Right’ the participants). Also at the forum was a certain Nick Griffin, Jim Dowson’s old boss at the BNP (more on that later).

Hi Jim!

KTI covered this ‘Mission’ to Russia extensively…then strangely deleted all the posts…

The officials that KTI had there being Dowson and Griffin, Griffin of course attending in his role as Vice President of the Alliance for Peace and Freedom.

Jim’s full speech there can be viewed here. Worth noting is how he keeps describing Britain First as his party, boasting about its social media reach etc. even though he was supposed to have quit in disgust at the Mosque Invasions.

KTI Novus Ordo Militiae Limited, the business.

So we had proof that KTI was Dowson, but was there anything else to link him to KTI?

Funnily enough the director of KTI Nom is one Marian Thomas (also ex-BNP), who just happens to be Jim Dowson’s sister in law.

.
marian

Who also just happens to be the director of the Patriot Society (inc: the Patriot Store, LionheatGB).

Recent marketing email from LionheartGB, note both Patriot Store mentioned and the sender address:

ktilionheartlink

Jimbo still nothing to do with the Patriot Store/LionheartGB though, even though he has the same solicitor who sends out the same quasi legal threatening letters if you have the temerity to go up against him.

jimbo-legal-threat-letter1

jimbo-legal-threat-letter2

These coincidences keep mounting up, still waiting for our letters Jim.

And not forgeting his old mate and English Democrat party leader Robin Tillbrook:

zzzzzzzzzzzz

Now why would KTI be bothered about a group opposed to Britain First? (redacted name not EBF). Tillbrooks being Britain First’s solicitor by the way…

Worth noting here is the recent Advertising Standards Authority ruling against KTI, where, basically, they lied about a Christian Family under threat from ISIS in order to solicit donations (another ASA ruling against the con men at KTI and another here).

Edit: link redacted as KTI, trying to cover their tracks have deleted all mention from their website, although it can still be found with cached versions and in their ‘Crusader’ magazine.

KTI and Nick Griffin.

You would think that after the acrimonious departure of Dowson from the BNP (and BNP members fraud allegations against Dowson) that Nick Griffin would have washed his hands of Jim. But…

We already know that Griffin was at the fascist shin-dig in Russia at the same time as Dowson. But is there any evidence to link Griffin to KTI?

We first became suspicious of Griffin’s involvement with KTI when we noticed the similarities to KTI’s ‘Syria Mission’ posts and posts made on Nick Griffin’s Twitter account.

.

Griffin with Alliance for Peace and Freedom and KTI posts showing same

It must be noted here that Nick Griffin is a prominent member of the Alliance for Peace and Freedom  (APF), a group currently being investigated by the European Union, and, his trip to Syria (which just happened to mirror KTI’s mission to Syria) was as a part of the APF group. Also worthy of note is the KTI claim of a meeting at the European Parliament, which again was the APF (with Fiore and Griffin). (more on Fiore)

But all of this could have been a coincidence, the same as Nick Griffin being pictured by KTI during their ‘Mission’ to the Hungarian border.

Also at the KTI Hungarian Border Mission was a mysterious pixellated figure, one of their Templars (pic taken from KTI website, since removed)

Purely by coincidence (obviously Jim has quit BF honest guv), Britain First were in Hungary at the same time.

But still no real proof that Griffin is KTI, even the usual cross posting could have been another coincidence…

And another weird coincidence…

Nice White Power symbol there Griffy

It looked like it would remain supposition that Griffin was KTI…until Griffin posted a picture of the KTI WordPress dashboard with himself logged in as Peter Mellows (blog writer on KTI website) on his British Unity  Facebook page (post removed a few days later).

All this seems relatively normal, barking mad to be sure, even the pixellated faces have been explained by KTI.

KTI excuse why they pixel their faces.

How brave eh?

But one has to wonder why they deny having links to other parties and businesses.

KTI nervous post, probably due to the EU investigating the Alliance for Peace and Freedom group that Griffin is in and KTI claim their activities as their own.

Even more odd when you look at the KTI Terms and Conditions.

This is where it gets murky…

Back to the KTI Rape Kit Mission in Vienna (actually Alpha Allianz and Jobbick – Novak Elod).

Here’s Teglasy at the demo

KTI rape 2

Also with Teglasy is one Edda Budaházy, who was at the Hungarian pro life conference with Griffin and Dowson (she is also linked to the Hungarian Outlaws, more on that later)…

.

Edda Budaházy is the sister of Gyorgy Budaházy, currently on trial in Budapest for numerous acts of violence with Molotov cocktails. Budaházy has been imprisoned for various militant offenses since 2009.

Which is fair enough, you cannot choose your family. Yet KTI are championing Budaházy.

So via Griffin, KTI are linked to the Alliance of Peace and Freedom group, being investigated by the EU Parliament (for being fascists basically). Linked via Edda and Teglasy to Gyorgy Budaházy a far right extremist who they are championing as a one of their Templars).  Are there any other links to extremist groups (other than Britain First)? Edit: Gyorgy Budaházy was found guilty and given a 13 year custodial sentence.

Well there are the Hungarian Outlaws .

The Hungarian Outlaws are a notorious Hungarian far right group, with a history of violence:

Nice bit of advertising eh Jim?

And here the not KTI, honest guv, Jimbo and Griffy pop up together again. This time in Serbia with the Red Zmaja and one Dejan Damnjanović  The Sovereign Military Order of the Dragon!

dragon2

Not sure what they actually do, as yet. Far right politically it seems and reviving the Order of the Dragon for Serbian nationalist reasons (bit like the “Templars”).

Should we be worried about the Knights Templar International and their links to extremists? Is KTI just another fake Templar group whose mission is to make money (via subscriptions and the selling of merchandise through the Patriot Store)? Or do they have a longer term political endgame  in mind? We at IRBF will keep watching, and reporting.

Edit: KTI’s video would certainly suggest that they wish to set up underground paramilitary groups (most likely along the lines of Ulster Unionist with which Jim Dowson already has links). Although  This is quite an old video, anyone with a knowledge of history will notice the word “Euskal”, It’s a propaganda video promoting the Basques separatists, ETA. But worth noting is the VII VII VII that keeps appearing on the video, 777 being a pan-European paramilitary group.

Could just be another marketing ploy though…

addendum: On the 26/05/2016 KTI on Facebook, for the first time, confirmed links to Jim Dowson (Video Here).

Operation Ark is the KTI (actually APF and Nick Griffin and also a certain Jack Sen and Arthur Kemp (again exBNP) via Project Nova Europa)  ‘Mission’ to relocate Boers (read white people) from South Africa to Hungary, which is interesting as KTI claim that they will be starting a relocation service for ‘Patriots’ to Hungary (again championed by APF, Project Nova Europa).

It is Glen Robertson, KTI Grand Commander… according to their scrolls.

He usually just hangs around taking the photos…. (Edit, new Grand Commander a certain Sir McBride, another exBNP loon).

It was our pleasure to work with the Daily Mirror on this article:

In response to a NYT article on how KTI and Dowson used social media to try and influence the US election.

How a Putin Fan Overseas Pushed Pro-Trump Propaganda to Americans

Nick Griffin responded on his Facebook page by confirming that he and Dowson are indeed KTI once again. And that they are the owners of the fake news sites mentioned.

Channel 4 News (ITN) have produced a report on how KTI manipulate with fake news.

Additional:

James Dowson has now been kicked out of Hungary.

“James Dowson (pictured), a British citizen and far-right figure residing in Hungary, has been banned from the country, Hungarian newspaper Magyar Narancs reported Wednesday.

The Hungarian Interior Ministry issued a statement explaining that Dowson has been deemedpersona non grata upon the suggestion of TEK, Hungary’s anti-terror organization. Magyar Narancs reported that had it received information earlier saying Dowson was considered a threat to Hungarian national security.” Full article from the Budapest Beacon here:

Additional additonal:

Budapest (AFP) – Hungary has declared British far-right figure Nick Griffin a “persona non grata” and barred him from the country, the interior ministry said Friday.

The announcement came two days after Budapest expelled James Dowson, another prominent British far-right activist with links to Griffin.” Full article here:

Rotherham Grooming: Inconvenient Facts EXPOSED

Rotherham grooming. We really should have read the Jay Report.

This week three brothers were given a 19 to 35 year imprisonment sentence for their abhorrent abuse of vulnerable young girls in Rotherham. A sensitive topic, and one that in no way detracts from the stories of the victims, is concern over the huge damage the press coverage of this case has caused the Muslim community as a whole and the Pakistani heritage community in particular. There is also a feeling of intimidation to acquiesce to demands to apologise and a fear that questioning the narrative will be portrayed as trying to reduce the significance of the crimes. Muslims stand united in condemnation of the criminals and in sympathy for the innocent victims. The only issue we have is the unbalanced furore over the Pakistani criminals and the virtual silence over the non-Muslims who have committed the same crimes.

The case began with a story in The Times in 2013 which forced authorities to take action to protect the victims of abuse who they had been aware of for some years but had failed to protect. The initial case involved a gang of Asian men who had been abusing young white girls they had picked up from the streets of Rotherham, many of them in social care and made vulnerable by a lack of adult supervision. The exposure of the initial gang led to other gangs being exposed and further victims of “on-street grooming” coming forward.
News coverage of gangs of Pakistani men abusing white girls exploded and the media constrained the story to the particular type of grooming the Pakistani men were involved in. To anyone following the story, it looked as though Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) was something unique to the Pakistani community. Just as we have seen with terrorism; repeated calls were made for the community as a whole to apologise and take responsibility. Muslim organisations such as the MCB and the Ramadan Foundation dutifully accepted collective responsibility on our behalf with press releases such as: “Child Abuse in Rotherham: We Cannot Let This Happen Again”[1] and by saying things like “Until British Pakistanis accept that this is a problem for our community we will not be able to eradicate this evil. Burying our head in the sand as the usual response is not good enough.”[2]
Rotherham Council commissioned an independent report into CSE in Rotherham which was led by Professor Alexis Jay and in August 2014 she published her “Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Exploitation in Rotherham 1997 – 2013”.[3]

In an epic failure for the Muslim community it seems we did not actually read the report and instead have relied on the way it has been presented by the media. To this day most people accept as fact that CSE is carried out by “gangs of predominantly Pakistani men.” Unchallenged for 2 years an article on the Telegraph website says all “1400 girls have been sexually abused by Asian men”.[4]
What the Jay Report actually said was:

“As has been stated many times before, there is no simple link between race and child sexual exploitation, and across the UK the greatest numbers of perpetrators of CSE are white men. The second largest category, according to the Children’s Commissioner’s report, are those from a minority ethnic background, particularly those recorded as ‘Asian’. In Rotherham, the majority of known perpetrators were of Pakistani heritage including the five men convicted in 2010. The file reading carried out by the Inquiry also confirmed that the ethnic origin of many perpetrators was ‘Asian’. In one major case in the mid-2000s, the convicted perpetrator was Afghan.”

It is no surprise at all that the second largest group nationally after whites is a minority, who else could it be? And ‘Asian’ is the largest minority group, twice as numerous as blacks. The key point regarding Rotherham is “In Rotherham, the majority of known perpetrators were of Pakistani heritage including the five men convicted in 2010.” She is clearly referring to the tiny number of previous convictions before the story blew up and victims started coming forward in larger numbers. This is confirmed by mentioning next that the current enquiry’s reading of the case files (rather than convictions) showed that many perpetrators were Asian. Previous convictions: “majority Asian” while other cases, presumably the new unresolved cases: “many Asians”, a very unspecific term and presumably the majority were therefore not Asian or she would have said it. It is hardly surprising when the first gang to be exposed was Asian that many of the suspects she would see first were Asians.

Then in August 2015 local Sheffield paper The Star published a story titled “Majority of Rotherham child exploitation suspects are white, claims new report”.[5] In fact the data was not that new but related to the time the Jay Report was being compiled. The story quotes offender profile data that was obtained from the South Yorkshire Police and which was in a draft report presented to the Council by Rotherham Safeguarding Children’s Board.

“The number of offenders, including suspects, were mainly White (68%); 24% were Asian; 5% were from other BME communities; and 3% of offenders were female”.[6]

Not a single national newspaper reported this very illuminating data.
The data covered a key two year period between October 2012 – October 2014, that is, from before the story went public and victims started coming forward until the end of the period within which Professor Jay was collecting data for her report. She says in the Preface that “any evidence available to me up till June 2014 would be included in the report.” She claims to have had evidence pointing to there being 1,400 potential victims and alludes to having data on the ethnicity of the suspects which must surely be the same data the South Yorkshire Police had. No one can say it is an inaccuracy for her to claim that 24% of suspects being Asian is “many”, and it means the Asian community are over-represented in that sample, but it is not “the majority” or “mostly Asian” as reported by all sections of the media. This inaccuracy has been invariably understood by the public, and, in fact, has been ever since by politicians as well, to mean this is a uniquely Pakistani problem with just a few anomalous others.

The question must be: If the figures were known why were they not clearly presented in the Jay Report? And, why, when the media ran with it being a predominantly Asian phenomenon, Professor Jay made no apparent attempt to correct them?

The plot thickens

Rotherham council has been accused many times of cover-ups relating to this case.[7] In an interesting twist, the council demanded that the data showing that the majority of suspects were white be removed from the new report.[8] Not because they feared it was inaccurate, it was directly from South Yorkshire Police after all, but because “some of the data referenced could be misleading and was not telling services what they wanted to know”. Would it be misleading to have a clearer picture that the majority of perpetrators of the crime they are trying to tackle are not from the community everyone has come to expect? Surely facts are facts and the services could take them or leave them. And they said that “The data might not show enough distinction between CSE and other forms of sexual offence, for example, intra familial abuse.” Which was clearly not a very good excuse because the data specifically mentioned it was relating just to CSE.

It makes no sense whatsoever to remove from a central policy document titled “Child Sexual Exploitation – The Way Forward for Rotherham” the only reference available anywhere to the fact that 76% of perpetrators would not be as Asian as everyone would otherwise be expecting, and that 68% would in fact be white. Here’s the attendance register for the meeting http://moderngov.rotherham.gov.uk/mgMeetingAttendance.aspx?ID=13344
The chair of the Rotherham Safeguarding Children Board resigned at the meeting and his replacement said:
“Collecting accurate data about Child Sexual Exploitation is an evolving process. Partners and ourselves continue to build on our knowledge and are using available data taken at a snap shot in time, but it is anticipated the data will become over time more reflective of the needs of victims and survivors of CSE.”
Which, as the data has not resurfaced in any form whatsoever, we can take to be council speak for: “We buried it”
The South Yorkshire Police have confirmed they have 300 suspects but did not mention the racial profile data which they obviously have available and said “they would not rush into making arrests”.[9] It looks as though the world will continue to believe those 300 suspects are all Pakistani for some time to come. The police did however confirm that at least 2 suspects are serving or former Rotherham Councillors.[10]
Fear of being seen as racist?
Another key aspect of the case and one that plays into anti-Muslim propagandists’ hands is that nothing was done to protect white girls from predatory Muslim men because of a fear of being seen as racist.[11]
South Yorkshire Police have denied it had been reluctant to tackle CSE or that “ethnic origin had been a factor” in its decisions.[12] The Jay Report is used repeatedly by the media and government to back up the myth but in fact it says:
“Within the Council, we found no evidence of children’s social care staff being influenced by concerns about the ethnic origins of suspected perpetrators when dealing with individual child protection cases, including CSE.”
The only hint towards this is where the report mentions an undefined perception that some senior people wanted to “’downplay’ the ethnic dimensions of CSE”. This is nowhere near meaning people should avoid investigating or prosecuting minorities simply because they were minorities and indeed they found no evidence of that. The fact is, as mentioned above, the Jay Report emphasises that the majority of convictions in Rotherham until that date had been of Asian men and also that the council had dealt with 12 cases of forced marriage in the Asian community, an equally sensitive topic, in the first few months of 2005 alone. It seems that the idea that there was a completely hands off approach to dealing with the Asian community is not borne out by the evidence.
While it isn’t a very good excuse for not tackling a crime committed by 68% white perpetrators, it is a convenient way to shift the blame back onto the Asian community; to say fear of offending them prevented the authorities from doing their jobs. The narrative becomes: “perhaps if Asians weren’t so damn touchy these girls would have been protected”.
Are Asians over-represented nationally in child abuse?
The short answer seems to be no. The white population of the UK is 86%. The Crown Prosecution Service’s lead on child sexual abuse says that white perpetrators account for between 80 and 90% of child abuse crimes.[13] The new specific crime of “on-street grooming” is where Asians are over-represented relative to their population. This has been attributed to the night-time economy many Asians work in; takeaways and taxi driving. Asians are more often on the street so that is naturally where their crimes might occur.
No-one should try to say any child abuse crime is more or less than another because of where it takes place but that is what is being attempted. We must be more careful not to allow non-Muslims to draw a line around a specific way Muslims are committing a widely committed crime in order for them to portray us as the only ones committing that crime. If the police are tasked with tackling that form of the crime, as they have been with on-street grooming, then of course the statistics will show an over representation, Muslim organisations will start apologising again and it will all go to fuel the Islamophobic media feeding frenzy.

A view on the Islamic Prophet Muhammed & his wife Aisha

The Islamic Prophet Muhammed & his wife Aisha

It is believed in the Islamic community that the teachings of the Quran were passed down during the time of Muhammed, and for them, it is believed to be 100% correct and unaltered in over 1400 years. However, contrary to what some right wing propaganda may claim, there is no mention of Muhammad or his marriages. So the only point of reference that we have to investigate the claims that Aisha was allegedly between the ages of 6 & 9 years old when she married Muhammad are what are known as Hadiths. Hadiths, for those of you who do not know, are a collection of narratives, sayings and teachings of Muhammed documented following his death. It is important to understand and point out that the Hadiths between the two major sects of Islam, Sunni’s and Shi’a’s differ, but that is a different topic altogether. So we are going to generalise here slightly just to highlight a few points, using the majority following of Islam which is the Sunni sect.

According to the Hadiths, specifically Sahih Bukhari which is generally accepted across Sunni Islam as being the most authentic, Aisha is reported to have said that she was a “young girl” at the time Surah Al-Qamar, the 54th chapter of the Quran, was revealed. According to historians, the 54th chapter of the Quran was revealed 9 years before what is known as Hijrah, or the migration of Muhammed and his Muslim followers to Medina from Mecca, around 622 CE. Note the words “young girl” and not the term infant; it is suggested Aisha was born towards the end of 613 CE or early 614 CE. If this were the case, and the 54th chapter was supposedly revealed 9 years before 622 CE, that would mean Aisha would have not even have been born. So already, this raises serious question about her age at the time of marriage. Also, the first revelations were made to Muhammed in 610. If he was 53 when he took Aisha as his wife, and she was supposedly 6 years old, that would mean that Aisha was born in 617 CE, and so therefore would not have been born when chapter 54 was revealed, as this was 4 years prior.

Aisha’s father, Abu-Bakr, married 2 women prior to the formation of Islam (in Muhammed’s time). Aisha was born to the latter wife, her half-sister Asma was born to Abu-Bakr’s first wife, and it is known that the age difference between the 2 was around 10 years. It is also recorded that all 4 of Abu-Bakr’s children (2 children from each wife) were born before the formation of Islam as a religion (the last 22 years of Muhammed’s life, circa . 610. Given the approximation that Muhammed was born around 570 CE, he would have been 40 at the time, and if 613 CE is to be believed as Aisha’s year of birth, it would mean Aisha was born 3 years past the first revelation to Muhammed by the Angel Gabriel as is believed by Muslims. The “first year” of Islam is defined by the lunar calendar which Muslims follow, and where the traditional Gregorian Calendar is marked by BC/AD or BCE/CE, the Islamic calendar is appended by the letters AH (Anno Hegirae – “in the year of the Hijra”). So the start of the 1st year of AH is the equivalent of 622 AD or CE. On that basis, if it is widely reported and accepted that Asma was a decade older than Aisha, and that when she passed away in 73 AH she was 100 years old, that would mean that Aisha was 93, suggesting that she was born actually born in 601/602 CE. Think about that; if she was a “young girl” then when Al-Qamar was revealed to Muhammed (622 CE), it would mean she was approximately 19/20 years of age. These dates and ages are approximate, so give or a take year or two, but we are still nowhere close to the suggested age of 6, or even indeed 9. Muhammed’s consummation of marriage is said to have been in 2 AH, so that would suggest that Aisha was between the ages of 20 & 23 if the above is to be accepted.

Another point that raises questions are the Battles of Badr and Uhud, which took place in 624 CE (2 AH) and 625 CE respectively. It is recorded that one of Abu-Bakr’s children, his son Abd Al-Rahman, did not convert to Islam, and opted to fight against the Muslims in the Battle of Badr. His age is recorded as being of around 21/22, which would place his year of birth at around 602/603 CE. Although it is accepted he was older than Aisha, there is little evidence to suggest that this was much more than a few years at best. Add to this the fact that it is recorded Aisha went into the battle alongside Muhammed, it being common practise that women accompanied the men in order to tend to wounds and assist them whilst they were out in battle. It is also recorded in the Hadiths that no one below the age of 15 was allowed in the battle of Uhud, so even if Aisha was 15 at the time, that would suggest that she was born in 610 CE, so at the time of the revelation of chapter 54 of the Quran, she would have been 3 years old. That’s not a young girl, that is still an infant or toddler. Aisha is supposed to have married Muhammed 1 year after the Hijrah. So let’s say she was 3 at the time the 54th chapter was revealed; she married the prophet 10 years later, so she was 13, and if the marriage was consummated 3 years later as is suggested by those who argue that she was 6 at marriage, then it means she was 16 when she had sex. Correct us if this is stated incorrectly, but the age of consent in the UK is 16 is it not?

Another factor to consider would have been Muhammed’s daughter Fatimah, born of his relationship with his first wife Khadijah. Fatimah is recorded to have been born when the Prophet was 35 years of age, and to have been 5 years the senior of Aisha. This then would mean she was born in the year 605 CE, meaning Aisha was born in the year 610, again reiterating the fact that if this was true, that Aisha would have been 13 at the time of marriage, and 16 at the time of consummation.

These are but a few observations; the fact is we are talking about a period of over 1400 years ago, no one can say for sure, unless Stewart Green for whom this article was originally written, or anyone else, is holding out on us and has a time machine. There are many articles written by historians and various scholars alike. Not all agree, and the viewpoints vary from one person to the next. But certainly, for all the arguments thrown about regarding Muhammed’s wife Aisha, there are just as many arguments ,if not more, to suggest that the claims Aisha was 6 years old at the time of marriage to Muhammed, is factually incorrect.

One thing is for certain, of the reports, and the citations used by right wing groups and Islamophobes; this topic is used as a form of attack against Muslims to peddle their Islamaphobic thoughts and ideologies, and without doubt, the figures most certainly do not add up, and so the foundations for their arguments hold no weight.
